FAQs and Care Instructions
Frequently Asked Questions about Kanoya Living and unique handmade Japanese ceramics.
Are all your products truly unique?
All our products are handmade, so they are unique in size, texture, color, painting, and size. While they may be similar when made by an artisan, no two products are the same. We do not sell any items made with a machine or in a factory.
Please note that the actual color may differ depending on the impression of the photo, browser, and monitor you are using.
How should I care for my pottery?
Pottery is a soft and warm material, but due to its characteristics, it is slightly absorbent. We recommend the following care method to ensure long-term use.
Before using pottery for the first time, soak it in water for about half a day to allow it to absorb enough water. This will make it less likely to get dirty. This is called "sealing".
When washing, apply detergent to a soft sponge and rinse thoroughly. After washing, dry thoroughly and store in a low humidity place.
Please refrain from using dishwashers, microwaves, and ovens.
How should I care for my metal items?
Metal is a material that changes over time. Enjoy the beautiful patina and aging that occurs with use.
You can use commercial dishwashing detergent. Washing with a hard or metal wire sponge may cause scratches.
Because it is a hard material, it may be scratched if it hits ceramic or glass dishes. Please handle with care.
Avoid using foods with high acidity or salt. This may accelerate metal corrosion. Mix a handful of baking soda with a small amount of water and scrub to remove the oxidized film on the surface and clean it.
Please refrain from using dishwashers, microwaves, and ovens.
