A ceramic artist working in the Southern Alps of Japan.
Centered around yakishime—a traditional unglazed high-temperature wood-fired technique—these works are fired over four full days in a wood-fired kiln.
The resulting pieces are simple yet powerful, shaped by flame, ash, and time. Each vessel changes subtly with use: the surface becomes glossier, the texture grows more familiar to the hand, and a unique character emerges that reflects the user’s life with the piece.
Other styles such as kohiki (white slipware) are also produced, offering a variety of forms and finishes.
These works embody the raw beauty of clay itself—the textures, tones, and warmth that can only be fully appreciated when held in the hand.
